F6F Hellcat: Philippines 1944

I've been an admirer of the Hellcat since seeing it display for the first time at a Fly Navy airshow, some years ago.

Now I'm delighted to learn more about its wartime role & those that flew them, thanks to Osprey Publishing.

This book does not hang around, and gets straight into the action with air battles described from the pilot's war reports.

The battle for the Phillipines would have a huge role to play in the overall war. According to the author, "If Japan lost the Philippines, it would lose the war."

The Hellcat was proving to be a decisive weapon in winning the air war, and the pilots certainly loved it.

The book goes on to cover pilot training & tactics, as well as the Hellcat's history and production.

With a great array of photos and coloured action graphics, the pages do simply flyby!

This is book number five in Osprey's DOGFIGHT series. As readers & collectors of their many series will know. Osprey have produced yet another high quality, and thoroughly enjoyable read.

Available to order now.
