As a reader of a lot of POW escape stories, I was intrigued to see what this new book had to offer.
This very readable account covers a lot of different subjects within it's 200 pages.
It starts with the escape organisations like MI9, describes both the German & Japanese POW camp systems, & how the Comet Line helped evaders escape Occupied Europe.
Of course no general escape book would be complete without mentioning Colditz, & the chapters on escapes in the Far East are a welcome addition.
The sypnosis of the book states that this is a complete overview, but no one book can really cover everything on such a broad subject. Having said that it does provide a really broad spectrum, as previously mentioned.
So summing up I would say this is an excellent book for someone starting out on the subject. Hopefully they will then want to go on & read more books on the many incredible escape stories out there.
Although I have read much of this content in other books, I have to say that I still enjoyed this author telling me it again. On top of that, it is great to see a new book published on one of my favourite subjects.
