This is book 58 in Osprey's RAID series, and despite being just 80 pages, it packs so much in.
This is the story of a planned capture of a U-Boat along with its onboard Enigma equipment, by a US Navy Captain. Remarkably he did it without proper authorisation, and having no knowledge that the Allies had already cracked Enigma, and so risked the Germans finding out.
The book is packed with some great photos and there is so much interesting information covering the Battle of the Atlantic, and the wartime service for both the submarine, and the key figures involved. This then sets us up for the raid itself.
My first book review for Osprey has provided a really fascinating and enjoyable read that has given me a much fuller picture of this story.
Highly recommended.
